The New Hampshire House approved the bill that legalizes gay marriage with a 186-179 vote, this afternoon.
The passing of the House vote means the bill is now sent to the Senate. While the first vote on the bill fell short by a single vote, those against gay marriage were unable to stop the bill from passing, as the House reconsidered and voted the measure to pass.
It was just two years ago that the Legislature gave approval to gays for civil unions, as proponents of following Massachusetts and Connecticut's legalization of marriage felt it was not appropriate at the time for New Hampshire.
Those against same-sex marriage used the argument that it would not only devalue marriage, but is morally wrong as well.
