Rachel Maddow hosted Lt. Dan Choi on her MSNBC show Thursday to discuss the "don't ask, don't tell" policy and the recent steps he has made in attempt to change the outdated law.
Choi's appearance on The Rachel Maddow Show marks the first anniversary of his coming out on her program, according to the Advocate.
Choi and Maddow discussed the recent changes to the enforcement of DADT by Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who announced new guidelines for how the Pentagon carries out the policy rules, essentially put higher-ranking officers in charge of discharge proceedings and impose tougher requirements for evidence used against gays and lesbians in the military.
29-year-old Choi, who is fighting the military's DADT policy, was arrested, along with others, after chaining himself to the White House fence in protest last week.
Choi talks with Maddow about his arrest, protesting the military ban and his status in the military, which remains in jeopardy.
