A great love story never gets old, and now SheWired has the chance to help this adorable Seattle-based couple, Emily and Rachel, to fulfill their wedding day dreams while becoming the first gay couple to win Crate & Barrel's Ultimate Wedding Contest.
Emily and Rachel, who love to drink coffee together and explore Olympic National Forest -- how charmingly Northwestern of them! -- are currently in sixth place in the running to win $100,000 toward their wedding and the expertise of ultimate wedding planner Jo Gartin.

The moment that we set eyes on one another, it was as if time stopped. It became a running theme for us; any time that we were in one another's presence over the two years following it was if there was no one else in the room-- to the point where our friends began to take notice. We both always knew how strong our connection was but from the very minute our lips at long last met we realized exactly how much had always been buried beneath. It only took a couple of weeks for Rachel to put it in words, lying in the grass at Lollapalooza. Our first date was seeing Feist and the first time we ever met was at a concert-- so at the risk of being completely over the top, I guess you could say that we've always been in perfect harmony.
We had begun the plans for our wedding when Rachel came across the Crate & Barrel Ultimate Wedding contest. We entered just for fun but it has since taken off and we're currently in 6th place! Through the process, we realized what an amazing thing this could be for the gay marriage movement if by some miracle we actually win -- to raise that visibility for our community. Obviously, the money aspect wouldn't hurt, especially because we recently moved to Seattle and are planning on having our wedding back home in Chicago so that we can celebrate with our family and friends, and it is undoubtedly going to be expensive.
In three weeks the contest will close and the top 50 couples will be judged by a panel to determine the winner so it's vital that we keep our votes high until the close to remain in the running.
