Though we’ve seen a lot of improvements over the years, there’s still not a lot of LGBTQ+ representation on reality TV. As queer people fight for some mainstream representation on reality shows, we’re also advocating for more shows that showcase and celebrate our authentic selves.

Even though we’re still behind, things have thankfully been changing over the years when it comes to LGBTQ+ cast members on reality shows. In fact, most networks and streaming services have been committing to more diversity within the reality TV genre, which not only pertains to race but also to sexual orientation, gender identity, and more.

Every now and then, reality shows feature LGBTQ+ heartthrobs that steal the show and have viewers everywhere paying very close attention. While some of those reality contestants chose to live more private lives following their respective TV debuts, many of them have maintained active social media presences and are absolutely worth the follow on Instagram.
