The film adaptation of Grant Ginder’s novel The People We Hate at the Wedding finally has a trailer from Amazon Studios!

In the story, siblings Alice (played by Kristen Bell) and Paul (played by Ben Platt) hesitantly agree to attend the wedding ceremony of their estranged half-sister. Alice and Paul’s mother, Donna (played by Allison Janney), also agrees to go. Alas, things don’t go quite as smoothly as they all planned.

This new comedy was directed by Claire Scanlon (Set It Up, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, The Good Place, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and had a screenplay adaptation from the writing duo Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin and Wendy Molyneux, a.k.a. the Molyneux Sisters.

Besides the core cast consisting of Platt, Bell, and Janney, The People We Hate at the Wedding also features actors such as Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Dustin Milligan, Isaach de Bankolé, Tony Goldwyn, Karan Soni, and Jorma Taccone, to name a few.

Ginder’s novel – which served as the source material for this film – received rave reviews when it was first published. Now, Amazon Studios hopes that this hilarious story will translate onto the big screen and streaming universe with the cinematic adaptation of The People We Hate at the Wedding.

The People We Hate at the Wedding premieres November 18 on Amazon Prime Video.
