Sam Smith is experiencing a career high right now, and they’re going to keep the momentum going with a brand-new album.

On Monday, October 17, Smith announced their fourth studio album, Gloria, which is set for a release date of January 27, 2023. The announcement was made via an Instagram post that also revealed the Gloria album cover.

“I am overjoyed to announce that my fourth album is called GLORIA. It will be yours on the 27th January 2023, and you can pre-order now,” the singer wrote in the post. “I’m feeling overwhelmed and emotional as I start to let go of Gloria and hand this work over to you. It has been magical in every way to make this piece of music and by giving this record to you I am giving you part of my heart and soul.”

Smith also noted how the album has helped them on a personal level. “Gloria got me through some dark times and was a beacon for me in my life. I hope it can be that for you. Thank you for waiting so long. Only a few months now.”

This week, Smith’s latest hit single “Unholy” (featuring Kim Petras) reached its new peak – the no. 2 position – on Billboard Hot 100. In the past, Smith reached the Hot 100’s no. 2 position with “Stay With Me” and the no. 4 position with “Too Good At Goodbyes.” However, the singer hasn’t yet secured a no. 1 single on the Billboard chart.

Given that “Unholy” has now become one of Smith’s most successful songs of all time, this definitely feels like the perfect time for them to announce a new album and gear up for its release.

Smith has been on a roll as of late, and it’s always exciting to see LGBTQ+ artists conquering the world!

Sam Smith’s Gloria comes out January 27, 2023 on all music streaming platforms.
