Nearly nude muscular men are helping rescue adorable dogs

Gay celebrity photographer Mike Ruiz had a big idea more than a decade ago: raise money for animal rescues using extremely hot muscular men.

It was a brilliant plan that has brought in charitable dollars every year since by selling a calendar that shows off hot bods and cute dogs.

For his 2027 Pups, Pecs & Petals calendar, Ruiz photographed the sinfully sexy men and their canine co-stars wearing nothing but bunches of flowers “as a way to soften and reframe the way we see shelter and rescue dogs,” according to a press release.

The OUT 100 honoree has photographed everyone from Colman Domingo and Anne Hathaway to Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton, but he’s probably best known for photographing male fitness models. “I admire men who have sculpted their bodies into works of art,” he said. “It takes incredible skill and knowledge to form human tissue to near perfection. Photographing their work is quite gratifying to me.”

The annual calendar uses eye-catching photos that will have you drooling like a dog to educate people and encourage them to adopt not shop when looking for a pet, along with raising cash for Louie’s Legacy Animal Rescue, one of the largest foster-based rescues in the country.

“The calendar makes the perfect holiday gift and also brings awareness to these special animals,” says Mike Ruiz. “Every discarded, neglected and abused dog deserves to be free of suffering.”
