Catching up with Boy Radio and his new album.

We caught up with Boy Radio (@boy.radio) on the set of his new music video for the release of "Don't Stop, Run It." Now, "Leather and Denim" joins "Don't Stop, Run It" as recently released singles from his upcoming album inspired by his love of music.

"I love music. The way that I engage with music is music takes me to higher forms of ecstasy (the natural kind) at times that equal or surpass what we all feel in moments of pleasure whether sexual or from a bite of favorite food," said Boy Radio. "I talk through these songs about pure joy in its purest form."

Boy Radio is part of what many see as a creative renaissance out of Brooklyn, NY by and for the queer community influencing the queer community globally. Boy Radio joins others such as @dragonsisters @theesurburbia, and @sweatyeddie, a performer on the emerging 'drag king' stages, who are leading a new generation.

At 6'5" or as he likes to point out "1.96 meters," he towers over most. A regular gym regimen makes him worthy of starring in action films or from, this writer's perspective, every action film. For those who know him, his heart, and his creative approach, Boy Radio is 100% love in intent, behavior, and approachability. However, with Boy Radio being a person of color and having such an imposing stature, it can sometimes bring unwanted reactions or attention.

"I do feel that I've learned not to make myself small in the presence of others because just my presence is intimidating. People deal with their intimidation of 'size' compared to themselves openly in verbal jokes, questions or weaponizing versus keeping thoughts to themselves and dealing with it separately," said Boy Radio about his size and daily life. "I learned to always to come from a place of love even when faced with the rare depths of hate among daily negative reinforcement."

For the balance of spring and summer, you can catch Boy Radio's love and talents at these current show dates and cities:

  • June 4th - Swagger Like Us - San Francisco, CA
  • June 10th - Brooklyn Pride - Brooklyn, NY
  • June 23rd - Midnight Quickie / Toronto Pride - Toronto, Canada
