National Same-Sex Kiss Day took place at Chick-Fil-A restaurants around the country on Friday to challenge the CEO of the chain, Dan Cathy, and his stance against gay marriage. One restaurant in Houston, TX had a different response, one that involved supporting a lesbian-owned business.
Lesbian and chef Monica Pope owns Beaver’s Houston (the name is only the beginning of all their entertaining food/restaurant and sex puns – just check out their website for a good giggle). On their list of specials for Friday was the Chick on Chick Filet, a sandwich of “two loving chicken breasts married on toasty buns with a honey mustard witness and joined in celebration with tolerant fries."
Anyone ordering the the Chick on Chick Filet, available for $11, also had the option to add a frozen Lynchburg Lemonade, Beaver’s adult bevy version of Chick-Fil-A’s famed lemonade, for just $5.
According to Beaver’s website, the gastropub meets Texas icehouse restaurant is just “DAM GOOD,” with menus focusing on “Texas coastal cuisines and playful (but serious) cocktails, beer and wine.” I am thinking I need to book a trip to Houston to go check this place out. Who wants to join?
Here’s to Beaver’s tasteful response to all this Chick-Fil-A controversy with their tasty Chick on Chick Filet and Lynchburg Lemonade.
