Six Adventures You Should Have After Coming Out

Coming out is a really big milestone and you should absolutely celebrate in a big way by seeing the world. Discover yourself, find some new passions, and make lots of friends on these post-coming out trips!

1. Backpack Through Europe

Backpack Europe

First, fly to London. Once there, purchase a Eurail pass, which will let you access all of Europe’s train networks for a set price and period of time. Definitely visit Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Rome, Barcelona, and Zurich. But why stop there? Hit as many more European capitals as you can, all without worrying about security lines and delayed flights. Want to really have the coming out trip of a lifetime? Go in June and celebrate Pride in a different city each week.

2. Hit the Slopes for LGBT Ski Week

Ski Week

Maybe you’ve never experienced snow? Or, perhaps you have tried skiing once when you were a kid. Well, now that you are out, how about hitting one of the many queer ski weeks such as Whistler @GAYWhistler or Aspen @aspengayskiweek? Finding a cute instructor to help you master any terrain and you’ll be skiing like a pro by day two. Whatever you do, get to après-ski and make some new friends every day. On ski trip, and we know you’ll be hooked.

3. Escape to Fabulous South Beach

South Beach

A trip to Miami is a great idea all year round. South Beach has white sandy beaches, warm turquoise water, and great nightlife. Miami itself has an exploding art scene and world class shopping. Be spontaneous, drive down to the gorgeous Florida Keys and give snorkeling a try, too.

4. Hit the Road. Route 1 to Be Exact

Big Sur

After coming out, you shouldn’t have to travel too far for an epic adventure. In just one trip, you can experience the West Coast’s two incredibly LGBT-friendly cities, Los Angeles and San Francisco, which benefit from being connected by the beautiful and winding Pacific Coast Highway, also known as California State Route 1. If you can, do this exciting road trip with friends! Book a campsite in Big Sur and don’t miss Hearst Castle. Just make sure to book tickets and make reservations in advance.

5. Discover Provincetown

Ptown

Provincetown is probably THE friendliest LGBT destination in the country. With an amazing mix of people, and variously themed weeks, there is something for everyone during the summer months. Get a small group together and rent a house for a week, or book a room at a small New England inn. Once there, rent a bicycle to ride around town and get to the beach. Make tea at the Boat Slip part of your daily routine and you’re sure to make new friends. Don’t put off a visit to America’s queer wonderland.

6. A Wild Weekend in Las Vegas

Vegas

When you are in the mood for an epic weekend with your closest friends, head to Las Vegas. It’s the city specifically designed to show you an amazing time, no matter what you’re interested in. Expect incredible, over-the-top hotels, restaurants from the world’s top chefs, nightclubs with the world’s best DJs spinning, breathtaking live shows from Cirque du Soliel to iconic pop stars, dozens of fabulous shopping centers…we could go on! While there, take an afternoon and head to the Hoover Dam, or repel from the top of the dizzying Stratosphere. You’re guaranteed a memorable adventure.
