'Thor: Ragnarok' May Feature the Marvel Films' First Openly Gay Character

Finally!

Thor: Ragnarok is coming to a theater near you this November, and now there's more to be excited about besides Chris Hemsworth haircut. The film could feature the Marvel cinematic universe's first LGBT character!

Four years after The Dark World and two years after Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor finds himself held captive on planet Sakaar. In the trailer, we see Thor's battle to the death with his old pal Hulk to save his home planet of Asgard.

We also get a glimpse of a huge rock character named Korg. Introduced in the Incredible Hulk comics, Korg is a member of the alien alliance Warbound and is in an openly gay relationship with his one-armed partner, Hiroim.

We have no idea if Thor: Ragranok will stick to the source material, but director Takia Waititi, who's playing Korg in the film, has already confirmed he is one of Thor's allies. "We wanted to change the idea of what a hulking guy made of rocks could be. He’s huge and heavy, but with a light soul," said Waititi, according to NewNowNext.

"We wanted to make him funny and a relatable entry point into this world. And Thor needs friends."

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Jessica Jones have both featured LGBT characters, but Korg would be the first gay character in a Marvel film.
