7 Queer Actresses We'd Love to See as Bond
Women in entertainment have really given men a run for their money.
They’ve spoken out against systematic abuse, championed for equal pay, and even become the heroes of their own films and TV series. Think Wonder Woman, Atomic Blonde, and The Handmaid’s Tale.
While we’re on the subject of women taking over the world, we’d love to see women in the entertainment business conquer truly uncharted territory...like the title role in the James Bond franchise. More specifically, we think queer women should be headlining any new Bond film that comes our way.
Here are seven queer actresses we’d love to see play Bond!
Stephanie Beatriz
Stephanie Beatriz plays a leather jacket-wearing tough gal on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and we’d kill to see her take some of that edginess and bring it to the Bond franchise. The actress, who revealed that she’s bisexual last year, is really starting to make a name for herself in the business and an opportunity to play Bond would be a hard one to turn down.
Michelle Rodriguez
Michelle Rodriguez is no stranger to action flicks. She’s long been attached to the Fast and Furious franchise, gave a good run as a boxer in Girlfight, and has enough swagger to push any male Bond way out of the picture.
Sara Ramirez
Sara Ramirez has been making waves on the small screen for quite some time, but she’s yet to land a role in a film that truly gives her an opportunity to shine. We’d love to see Ramirez use some of her talent and charisma in a Bond film. She’d be fantastic, plus she’s got that whole dapper don thing down pat.
Elena Anaya
As the ruthless Dr. Maru in Wonder Woman, Elena Anaya gave us all a glimpse of how powerful she can be on screen, even from behind a mask. Anaya, who hails from Spain, always surprises when she’s playing a less-than-perfect character, so she’d be an incredibly unexpected (but awesome!) pick for the role.
Evan Rachel Wood
Aside from the fact that Evan Rachel Wood looks great in a suit, she’s one of the best actresses working today and we have no doubt she’d bring a true sense of intrigue and drama to a Bond flick.
Gillian Anderson
Gillian Anderson has more than proven her skill as both an actress and a badass. She’s been slaying ever since her early X-Files days and continues to woo us in those pant suits even now. The actress, who’s often coy about her bisexuality, isn’t shy about giving her all to any role she plays and we think she’d be perfect as the mysterious but always-invincible Bond.
Angelina Jolie
As far as we’re concerned, Angelina Jolie is already Bond. She’s beautiful, intelligent, and has the acting chops to make a Bond movie more exciting than any of us could ever imagine. Plus, she’s seen her fair share of action flicks as well. Our vote's on Angie for this role, for sure!
