West Side Story is getting a 2021 upgrade.
Director Steven Spielberg has reimagined the iconic 1957 Broadway musical and 1961 film for a modern audience. Starring Rachel Zegler and Ansel Elgort as María and Tony respectively, the film "tells the classic tale of fierce rivalries and young love in 1957 New York City."
The glitzy first trailer pulls out all the stops. It opens with a stunning rendition of "Tonight" then explodes into the world of color, dance, music, tension, and drama. Ariana DeBose, David Alvarez, Mike Faist, Josh Andrés Rivera, Ana Isabelle, Corey Stoll, Brian d’Arcy James, and Rita Moreno also star in the film.
West Side Story premieres December 10, 2021 in theters.
