Childish Gambino's 'This Is America' Is Exactly What the World Needs Right Now
The video has so much symbolism!
Childish Gambino, the rap alias of actor, writer, producer, and modern day icon Donald Glover, released a music video for newest song "This is America" over the weekend.
Glover, who also created, directs, writes, and acts in FX's Emmy-winning series Atlanta, sings and dances shirtless in the video, all while commenting on gun violence, media misdirection, police brutality, and the lives of Black men and women living in America.
The video is shot in a large warehouse, and is filled to the brim with symbolic imagery. But upon first glance, you won’t notice any of it. What you’ll focus on at first is Glover’s dance moves—and that’s exactly the point.
