A camping trip turns into a rural gay fantasy in Yuma X's new music video, "Secret Lover."
Lukas Radovich, an Australian soap star from Home and Away, stars in the video as a teen who is thirsting after his female friend's boyfriend. Radovich is also paired with a woman on the group's trip into the countryside, but he's clearly not interested in her advances. There's a look in his eyes that shows his mind is elsewhere.
Not interested.
The women also take notice that the pair is bonding. They (rightly) suspect that something is up as the guys gaze longingly at each other as they look at trains and play tennis.
She knows.
The men consummate their repressed love for one another after a lakeside meeting. A fight breaks out later, but they have a second go of it after smoking cigarettes in a barn. The video then turns into the illusion of a club as they make out for a long period of time in front of flashing rainbow lights.
Secret lovers.
The spell is broken in the morning when they have to return back to civilization and heteronormativity. As Radovich drives away, he gazes back with an upspoken, I wish I knew how to quit you!
The video's director, Maddy King, revealed in an interview with Daily Mail that Radovich, who had previously kissed another guy on Home and Away, helped with the script.
"I cast Lukas early in the process, and he came over to my apartment, and we sat down and wrote the script together," King said.
"We shot the studio scenes the day after the Mardi Gras parade which felt really perfect, the energy on set was magical," she added about the annual LGBTQ+ Sydney Pride gathering.
