WATCH: Out Australian Senator Penny Wong Calls Out Every Homophobe

Sportscaster Brian Taylor has recently been in the headlines for calling Australian football player, Harry Taylor, a  “big poofter” and Penny Wong, who is known for being direct on issues like this, has had enough of it.

In her speech about homophobia, Wong delves into the reason why homophobic comments like Taylor’s should not be brushed aside: “It’s not joke to be in the crossfire of prejudice. And it’s no joke to live with the fear of being rejected or vilified or persecuted because of who you are.”

Wong lays down her concern of Taylor’s position as a sportscaster, saying, “Well if he can’t exercise self-control and just blurts these things out in the heat of the moment, perhaps he isn’t qualified to be seated in front of a live microphone.”
