The Make It Fair Project has released a new video discussing some pretty shocking statistics. Men dominate most positions in the entertainment industry, but, frighteningly, they don't dominate all of them. Yet! Devised by Patricia Noonan, Nadia Quinn, and Emily Tarver, made entirely by woman, and featuring over 70 ladies in entertainment, this video highlights the drastic inequalities in showbiz with a new level of biting sarcasm. But no amount of charming original music and upbeat attitudes can distract from the fact that these statstics compiled by the Geena Davis Insitute on Gender in Media are pretty horrifying (and that some people might actually believe the intent of this is to support male domination).
Do men have it all? Not quite. And even though this is clearly a tragic oversight in society, the ladies of the Make It Fair Project are going to go ahead and fight for equality anyway. "As we move forward, we will continue to raise awareness, ask tough questions, celebrate female talent, connect female artists to opportunities, laugh, create, and broaden the scope of the stories being told," their website declares, and it requests we all start using the #makeitfair hashtag to keep this conversation going.
