Some of rock’s most talented women have been nominated for the 2012 class of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees.
Joan Jett, Heart, Chaka Khan, Donna Summer, and Laura Nyro join fellow legendary performers Guns N' Roses, the Faces/Small Faces, the Cure, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rufus with Chaka Khan, the Spinners, Freddie King, Heart, Donovan, the Beastie Boys, War, Eric B and Rakim.
The official nominees on the 2012 ballot are selected by the Hall’s committee and then put to a vote in “a wider pool of about a thousand artists, media and industry people,” according to reports. “The winners will be announced in several weeks, typically in early December.” The Hall of Fame may also induct several acts and artists in special categories, which are not voted upon, but have not yet announced any such honorees,
Fans can still support their favorite artists, however, by voting in a separate poll on www.rockhall.com.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2012 induction ceremony will be held April 14 in Cleveland.
