Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, an important day for many Americans to celebrate the life and impact of one of the greatest Civil Rights activists to ever live. Although it has been almost 51 years since his life was taken, the same fight for equality that Dr. King was leading is still being fought today, and it's important that we not forget the lessons he taught us.
Here's how some notable people and organizations paid tribute to Dr. King and his incredible legacy of activism:
“I’ve always drawn inspiration from what Dr. King called life’s most persistent and urgent question: "What are you doing for others?" Let’s honor his legacy by standing up for what is right in our communities and taking steps to make a positive impact on the world.”— Barack Obama (@Barack Obama) 1548087282

“An ignorant question leads Dr. King to offer a strong lesson in black history in two minutes flat. I can tell that he’s slightly irritated, but also determined to break it ALL the way down. Which he does brilliantly. A king. #MLK90”— Ava DuVernay (@Ava DuVernay) 1548087391
