Chris Brown Says He's Sorry and Seeking Counseling for Rihanna Assault

Following a week of silence since reports began surfacing that Chris Brown physically abused Rihanna, he has released an official apology. 'Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God's help, to emerging a better person,' Brown said.

Following a week of silence since reports began surfacing that Chris Brown physically abused Rihanna, he has released an official apology.

On the Sunday of the Grammy's, news began trickling out that pop princess Rihanna wouldn't make her Grammy's appearance, and it wasn't long before the blogosphere and the tabloids put it together that an unidentified woman who'd accused Brown of assault in the wee hours of Feb. 8, was Rihanna.

Now, Brown, who supposedly holed up at the Hard Rock Café in Las Vegas, and who has drawn the ire of music contemporaries and Rihanna friends and supporters, including Jay-Z, has broken his silence, TMZ reported.

"Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God's help, to emerging a better person," Brown said in a statement.

"Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong. While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writing under my name are frauds."

Brown and Rihanna got into an argument following a pre-Grammy's party at music mogul Clive Davis' place on Feb. 7. The argument escalated into a full-blown violent fight that landed Rihanna in Los Angeles Cedars Sinai for treatment and Brown in lock-up until his bail was posted.

Wanted on charges of felony battery, Brown turned himself into police in the evening of Feb. 8. His court date is set for March 5, according to People.
