'Grey's Anatomy's' Best Gay TR Knight Scrubs Out for Good!

Filed under not so surprising news, word is out that openly gay actor TR Knight's Grey's Anatomy character Dr. George O'Malley flatlined for good and will not be returning the series, according to EOnline's Marc Malkin.

The 36-year-old actor, who came out publicly after coworker Isaiah Washington hurled epithets at him on set in 2006, has reportedly been looking to check out of Grey's for a while.

Malkin reported that tension between Knight and the show's creator Shonda Rhimes has been on the rise.

Knight was becoming increasingly frustrated by O'Malley's lack of story development and camera time. In December he asked to be let out of his contract.

Meanwhile, Knight's best gal pal and costar Katherine Heigl's future at Seattle Grace remains a toss-up. Word was that Heigl and Knight would both exit the show at the end of the season. Heigl's character Izzie was diagnosed with a fairly inoperable brain tumor. But it looks as though she may hang in there for another season.
