Despite pressure to stay closeted, petite British rapper Lady Sovereign is speaking openly about her sexuality after getting the boot on Celebrity Big Brother.
Popnography reports the side-pony tailed cutie is thinking for herself and if recent reports ring true, the artist, 24, could be ready to make that giant leap. Before getting eliminated recently from the U.K reality show, Lady Sov suavely and casually recounted for the camera her struggle to get over her last girlfriend admitting, "I haven't had a boyfriend for, like, ages." She narrowly mentioned coming out to her family, "I just admitted ...whatever... when I was like 17."
In the controversy over whether or not Lady Sov's publicist was attempting to keep her mum, Autostraddle reports that they had an interview scheduled with the rapper, but, "the day before our scheduled interview, it was canceled by her publicist. Why? Because we're a gay publication, and speaking to us would only fan the flames of Sov's lesbian/bisexual rumors," said the website.
Lady Sovereign was not without her share of "good" publicity since she hit the scene in 2005 touring with Gwen Stefani, becoming the first non-American female to be signed to Def Jam and reaching number 1 on TRL.
Other than a couple of misdemeanors and public breakdowns, Lady Sov just released her new album Jigsaw in London featuring "So Human" on her own label last April before signing up for Celebrity Big Brother.
According to U.K's Times Online, our Lady didn't exactly squelch nor confirm rumors surrounding her sexuality nearly three years ago. Back then, the website asked if she was bisexual, which Sovereign replied, "I don't know, I'm just me... I don't like labels. Whatever tickles my fancy, to be honest." So does that mean men and women? "It could mean whatever you want it to mean."
