Openly gay tennis player Amélie Mauresmo is at the top of her game after winning her first tournament title in nearly two years this weekend at the Paris Open, according to the Advocate.
Mauresmo previously won the silver in the 2004 Summer Olympics but she, "was waiting for consecutive wins like this to prove that I'm capable of winning this kind of tournament," Mauresmo told reporters. "You look at the field here in Paris, with all the great players that were here, and I'm very happy and very proud about this week."
This past Sunday, the out tennis ace Mauresemo triumphed over competitor Elena Dementieva in the final round of the Paris Open. This is Mauresmo her first tournament win since Antwerp, Belgium, in 2007.
