Nicole Kidman Wed to Charlize Theron in Transgender Biopic

Nicole Kidman is slated to play a male to female transgender woman married to Charlize Theron's character in the upcoming biopic The Danish Girl. Kidman and Theron will star as Danish artists Einar and Greta Wegener, whose portraits became the toast of Copenhagen in the 1920's.

Oscar winner Nicole Kidman is slated to play a male to female transgender woman married to another Academy Award winner, Charlize Theron’s character in the upcoming biopic The Danish Girl.

Kidman and Theron will star as Danish artists Einar and Greta Wegener, whose portraits became the toast of Copenhagen in the 1920’s. Einar began posing for his wife Greta when a female model failed to show up but soon, Einar began adopting a female guise more often and eventually transitioned, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

In 1931 Einar underwent landmark surgery to become a woman, a move that shocked the art world and nearly tore the couple apart.

Kidman is set to co-produce the film to which Shopgirl director Anand Tucker is already attached.

The Hollywood Reporter pointed out that Kidman and Theron won their Oscars for playing bi-sexual or lesbian characters in The Hours and Monster, respectively.
