19 Women and Girls Executed By ISIS For Refusing Sex With Fighters

Yazidi and Christian captives murdered for refusing to engage in "sexual jihad".

The Islamic State slaughtered 19 women and girls who refused sexual relations with ISIS fighters, Kurdish official Said Mimousini told Iraqi TV, according to The Daily Mail. Mimousini also suggested that an argument over who would buy the women and what they were worth was instrumental in the shocking decision to end their lives.

Yazidi and Christian women are abducted from villages as ISIS conquers them, then sold in "slave auctions", where girls under nine years old typically fetch the highest prices (around $165) and older women fetch the lowest prices (sometimes just $40). This is due in part to the widespread practice of then attempting to sell them back to their parents. The most attractive young virgins - many of whom are allegedly pre-pubescent - are often stripped naked during these auctions.

Responding to the tragedy, US envoy Zainab Bangura said in a statement: “The girls get peddled like barrels of petrol. One girl can be sold and bought by five or six different men. Sometimes these fighters sell the girls back to their families for thousands of dollars.”
