Some lesbians take birth control. It's a funny one-line opener for a conversation about more serious issues. Birth control isn't just taken for pregnancy prevention, which is why it's not a frequent topic on lesbian websites or in lesbian circles. But the real issues that surround it are VERY frequent. For some, the health benefits outweight the possible negative side effects. For others, they just want a 'normal' cycle. Either way I think it's safe to assume that we all, as women, believe we are entitled to the right to our own body. Here are some things a straight friend and I had to say to ignorant women who thought otherwise.
