Obama is 'Absolutely Delighted' About Marriage Equality Gains

President Barack Obama is celebrating more than just his reelection following Tuesday night's victory. According to senior Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett, the commander-in-chief is more than pleased by voters inMaine, Washington, andMaryland legalizing marriage equality, reports BuzzFeed. Voters in Minnesota became the first in the nation's history to vote down a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.

President Barack Obama is celebrating more than just his reelection following Tuesday night's victory. According to senior Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett, the commander-in-chief is more than pleased by voters in MaineWashington, and Maryland legalizing marriage equality, reports BuzzFeed. Voters in Minnesota became the first in the nation's history to vote down a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.


On a conference call with Human Rights Campaign supporters Thursday, Jarrett said Obama was "so absolutely delighted" by Tuesday's marriage equality victories. Jarrett says the president believes voters in those states "all came down on the right side of history."

Jarrett also said the Obama campaign "couldn't be more thrilled" about Sen. Tammy Baldwin's victory, making her the first out LGBT person elected to the U.S. Senate.
