"The country is ready for a woman president," declares a new campaign from Emily's List called Madam President.

The campaign is designed to "build a base of voters committed to a long-term goal of electing the first woman President of the United States," according to the organization's website. Emily's List, which bills itself as the nation's largest resource for women in politics, launched the campaign following a new poll from Anzalone Liszt Grove which found that 90% of voters in battleground states would consider voting for a qualified female candidate from their party. Nearly three-quarters of voters surveyed in battleground states (72%) said they believe Americans are likely to elect a woman president in 2016.

“The Emily’s List community – now more than two million members strong – and countless other Americans across the nation, are ready to put a woman in the White House who will move the country forward,” said Stephanie Schriock, President of EMILY’s List, in a statement. “In 2012 voters across the country elected an historic number of women leaders because they had the right priorities. The Madam President campaign will build on that base, harness their energy and enthusiasm for women’s leadership, and channel it towards putting a woman in the Oval Office. We have a deep bench of women leaders committed to fighting for progressive change who are up to the task of taking their place on the Democratic ticket in 2016 and beyond. It is clear that this is our time – we are ready for a Madam President.”
