The CEO of renowned lingerie brand Victoria's Secret is stepping down from her position amidst controversy surrounding anti-trans comments the company's chief marketing officer made last week.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Victoria's Secret CEO Jan Singer is stepping down from the post she's held at the company since September of 2016 following chief marketing officer Ed Razek's controversial response in Vogue magazine as to whether or not transgender models should walk in the brand's annual televised fashion show.

"If you’re asking if we’ve considered putting a transgender model in the show or looked at putting a plus-size model in the show, we have," Razek told the fashion mag, when asked about how other brands are starting to become more inclusive of including trans and plus-size women in their ad campaigns.

He continued:

"Shouldn’t you have transsexuals in the show? No. No, I don’t think we should. Well, why not? Because the show is a fantasy."

Razek later apologized via Victoria's Secret's official Twitter account, but not before swift and well-deserved online backlash from people and allies in the trans community.

THR also reports that Singer's departure happens amidst a five percent drop in sales this year for the Victoria's Secret brand.
