A video featuring a trans teen talking with his Muslim mom about being trans has gone viral for the best reasons.
SamuraiSamir, or @dajaj13 on TikTok, kicks the video off by asking his mom how she felt when he came out to her at the age of 13 (he’s 18 now).
“I love you. I can’t live without you. And I accept you. And I kind of sensed something when you were a child,” she says.
She goes on to tell him that not only does she believe he is not a mistake, but that Allah does not make mistakes.
“Science is broad; we are still as humans learning. No one wants to be abnormal, or to be ostracized by society. So you are a special, beautiful child, a beautiful human being, and I love you.”
SamuraiSamir then asks her what she thinks of the people who have mean things to say in the comments, to which she simply replies that they are ignorant.
The video struck a chord with a lot of people, particularly as it's not uncommon for there to be tensions between people of all religions and the LGBTQ community.
“@icedcitruss More proof that humans foster hate and not religion.
Just as many muslims, christians and jewish can be homophobic and hateful because they "think" its right

Many muslims in return will be loving and understanding and know that god doesn't want us to hate.”— sol (@sol) 1579256953
“@icedcitruss To anyone without supportive & affirming parents, I'm so sorry. I'm a mamabear in TX with a young trans son and I love him just as much today as I did on the day he was born. If y'all need a mom hug, let me know. I've got plenty just for you ❤️”— Amber Briggle (she/her) (@Amber Briggle (she/her)) 1579265630
