The Staircase miniseries may have wrapped up last week, but we’re still thinking about it — especially now that star Patrick Schwarzenegger, who played Todd Peterson, has revealed on a recent episode of the Just for Variety podcast that the character’s exploration of his sexuality could have been more explicit.

In the show, Peterson is seen exploring his sexuality briefly when he and a male friend seem as though they might start making out while drinking and doing cocaine in a bathroom stall.
However, according to Schwarzenegger, he shot an additional scene that represented “more investigations into his sexuality,” as he told Variety. “There were some scenes where he was pleasuring himself in his dad’s office and … he can’t to straight porn and straight stuff. So he starts to investigate other stuff,” Schwarzenegger explained. This scene did not make the final cut.
Next up, Schwarzenegger is set to star in a mystery role in Amazon’s untitled spinoff of The Boyswhich is set to take place in America’s only college for Supes. According to the logline, the series is described as “an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual and moral boundaries to the test. It’s part college show, part Hunger Games — with all the heart, satire, and raunch of The Boys.”
While he hasn’t confirmed who he will be playing, Schwarzenegger is rumored to be stepping into the role of a new Supe named Golden Boy. While he is remaining tight-lipped about the new gig, he did share with Variety that his father Arnold Schwarzenegger has seen some photos from the set.
“He looked at me and he was like, ‘What the fuck are you filming?’” he recounted. “I was like, ‘It’s this show called The Boys. … You have to watch an episode to understand it, or else I can’t articulate what happens in it.”
“This set is really fun, and there’s just a loosey-goosey comedy. It’s kind of like Euphoria meets superheroes,” Schwarzenegger added.
While The Staircase might have cut the more explicit content, The Boys — and likely its spin-off — doesn’t hold back.
