How cool would it be to help queer filmmaking pioneer Guin Turner make her next project?
You can become a part of queer film history! Highly acclaimed actress and screen-writer Guinevere Turner (Go Fish, American Psycho, The Notorious Bettie Paige) has launched an Indiegogo fundraising campaign for her latest project, Creeps, a film about a lesbian and a few close friends attempting short-term sobriety, and she could use your help to make it happen! But far be it for Turner to just ask for help! She went the extra step and did a mini enactment of the film with puppets, which you can watch in the promo video below!
According to the fundraising page: “Creeps is a movie that follows the highs and lows of Mona and Freddy, two best friends who decide to quit drinking and doing drugs for a week so they can have great skin for a party. Mona’s recently found out that her ex-girlfriend has become a successful artist and is having a big art opening in a weeks' time. Of course they MUST attend, look fabulous and have the sexiest arm candy in sight. They sadly agree that the only real way to accomplish this is to form a pact: 7 days of sobriety. By the time they make it to the opening, they aren’t speaking, they’ve barely slept, and disaster ensues."
Shooting for the film is set for April 2014 in Los Angeles, contingent up the crowdfunding effort, with which Turner aims to raise $200K by her mid-November deadline. Funds raised from the campaign will go directly to funding the production of the film, which is being co-produced by Valeria Lopez and Shari Greicar. Lopez is best known for producing the web series Lesbian Cops, and Greicar is the creator and producer of OutSet: The Young Filmmakers Project from Outfest and LifeWorks currently in it's third year mentoring Los Angeles LGBTQ youth through a filmmaking lab.
