Crystal Bowersox Confirms She's Bisexual in Tweet About Her Single 'Coming Out for Christmas'

Crystal Bowersox Tweeted that she is indeed a part of the community her coming out song is intended to inspire.

Last month we posted former American Idol contestant Crystal Bowersox’s Christmas-themed single about coming out, aptly titled "Coming Out For Christmas,” to empower LGBTQ youth to come out.

Last week Crystal took to Twitter to confirm that she’s not just an ally, but that she is bisexual and a part of the community that the song is intended to empower, according to Yahoo News.

Coming home for Christmas can be tough if you haven't also come out to family or friends, Crystal said of the song , co-written with Maia Sharp.

Crystal went on to say:

“The holidays are here, and it pains me to think that anyone would be left alone or be forbidden to be with their family over something as silly as their sexual orientation. I hope it will serve as a holiday anthem for people who may finally have the courage to live their life as their true authentic self, proudly and unapologetically, and that their friends and family will love and accept them with loving open arms. May we all celebrate this holiday season together, celebrate equality, and give thanks for the true spirit of Christmas- with our one human family.”

Some of the proceeds from each sale of "Coming Out For Christmas" will benefit The Trevor Project, according to  On Top. Crystal’s heartwarming single can be purchased in the iTunes store or at New York Rock Exchange.
