First-time feature director Stacie Passon’s Concussion made big waves at LGBT film festivals throughout the summer. The film stars Deadwood’s Robin Weigert as a dissatisfied lesbian housewife who turns to sex work with female clients to fill the void. Think Luis Buñuel’s Belle de Jour meets Chantal Akerman’s Jeanne Dielman, 23, quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles. Weigert is terrific in this beautifully shot film from producer Rose Troche (Go Fish). The stunning Maggie Siff costars.
The red band trailer focuses on the affair between Weigert’s and Siff’s characters, but the movie is so much more than that!
Concussion opens in theaters Oct. 4.
