Women Are More Likely To Be Rocket Scientists Than Movie Directors: A Video Explainer

An aspiring filmmaker has created a handy summary of Hollywood's sexism.

The ranks of Hollywood directors are still dominated by men. And one aspiring woman director wants to change that, but naturally she'll have to raise the money herself to do it.

Annabel Oakes hijacked the new fundraising video for her film, All Exchanges Final, to take aim at the male-dominated industry. As a comedy writer (she's currently working on the upcoming CBS sitcom from out actress Jane Lynch, Angel From Hell), Oakes's is a satirical takedown that includes women laughing and eating yogurt, crying for no reason, and playing the generally vapid role assigned to women by Hollywood's current crop of writers and directors.

It's an explanation of Hollywood's sexism that will have you scouring the web for other women directors with Kickstarter, IndieGoGo and SeedAndSpark campaigns for donating immediately.

Are women really more likely to be rocket scientists than movie directors? Watch below, with an assist from You're The Worst star Aya Cash, then donate to Oakes here
