With Carol getting snubbed for a Best Picture nomination at the Oscars this year, we're not exactly gearing up for the joyful awards season we had hoped for. However, the Screen Actors Guild Awards last Saturday night gave us plenty to celebrate, including lots of Orange is the New Black love and a pretty exceptional Carol joke. OINTB took home the award for "Outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series," and Laura Prepon gave a lovely speech that honored the show's immense diversity. Watch right here:
Uzo Aduba also won for her role in Orange is the New Black and her speech was, as usual, incredibly inspiring.
The SAG Awards also honored Carol Burnett with the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Tina Fey and Amy Poehler momentarily stole the show with their introduction. This joke about confusing Carol Burnett with Carol the film might be one of the night's biggest highlights:
