The blogosphere exploded today over news that the 60s period drama Pan Am will feature a girl-on-girl kiss in their upcoming episode "Diplomatic Relations," which is scheduled to air on ABC on Sunday night, January 15th.
So, who are the next ladies to bring it during national, primetime television?
During a 30 second promo, released by ABC and featured on spoilersguide.com, we see Scrappy, outspoken flight attendant Maggie Ryan (Christina Ricci, who famously kissed Charlize Theron in Monster) and Amanda Mason (Ashley Greene) share a smooch after Maggie admits that “I’m starting to think that women are just better.” Mason, in an effort to console her friend agrees, then quickly leans in for the kiss.
Ashley Greene, of Twilight fame, joined the show late last year, for a multi-episode run, playing the love interest of co-pilot Ted Vanderway (Michael Mosley).
Now it appears that the writers are prepared to do whatever it takes to save the show. There are rumors that the show is on its last leg, so we have to ask, could this sapphic romance just be happening to boost ratings or is it actually the start of an ongoing story arc? We can’t be sure, but we will indulge ABC and tune in, just in case.
