This week, our progressive President served up a little gender equality with the traditions this year at a Marine Corps Toys for Tots event.  The President and First Lady were there to support troops and help sort toys into barrels for the girls and boys--except Obama made a point to mix things up a little bit.  In the video you can see him putting so-called "boy toys," balls, lego sets, etc. into the girls bin, and vice versa. Later on the podium he jokes "Girls 0-2...that's perfect for the Call of Duty video game right?" Though the guests were a bit surprised at first, the crowd quickly caught on and voiced their support of Obama's point. As a little girl who rejected both girl AND boy toys (Barbies and GI Joes were never my thing), and chose instead to build elaborate PlayMobile zoos or building block mazes for my hamsters to confusedly stumble through, I very much appreciate the President taking a moment to remind us all that girls should be given options besides dolls and tiny ovens.  This is change, y'all, one toy at a time...
