The Internet Responds to News That K-Stew Was Outed by Her Mother
YezYes

Queer women around the world rejoiced today after news came out that K-Stew is officially dating Alicia Cargile, her former personal assistant. Her mom outed her in an interview with the British tabloid, The Mirror.

In the interview, she revealed that she's met K-Stew's girlfriend and called her "lovely." She also said, “People need to be free to love whoever they want. I accept my daughter loves women and men.”

Queer Tumblr and Twitter have mixed feelings about the outing. On one end, fans are excited that she is officially out, but they want to know if it happened on K-Stew's terms. Did she give her mother permission to talk to the press about it or did her mom accidently let it out? Are we allowed to be excited, even if K-Stew hasn't actually commented on the situation?

But did K-Stew really come out or was she outed, as this Tumblr user says? Was it planned? Did she have a conversation with her mom prior to the interview? Is K-Stew OK with it?

Regardless of the ambiguity about whether K-Stew herself confrims, fans are excited, to say the least:

The Internet is already making memes of Alicia and K-Stew using quotes from her mother's interview:

Tumblr, though, is reacting a little bit differently than fans on Twitter:

Queer Tumblr calls K-Stew "gaystew" and this is their reaction compared to how they assume straight people are responding to the news:

Even though fans are happy to learn that K-Stew is a part of the queer community, some fans feel that it is aggressive of her mother to 'out' her since K-Stew hasn't made a public comment yet.

K-Stew fans joke about how the media calls Cargile, who we now know is officially K-Stew's girlfriend, her "gal pal" and they aren't letting anyone forget it:

Some news sites even used "gal pal" to report the news, even though we know now Cargile is officially her girlfriend:

There are so many questions in the air. We just hope K-Stew is cool with everything. Perhaps, she will make a public comment soon? Maybe not. Even if her mom 'outed' her, it doesn't mean she needs to answer to anyone about her sexuality.

What ever you do, K-Stew, we support you!
