Linda Perry Bemoans the State of the Music Industry: Singles Out Katy Perry: VIDEO

Grammy nominated record producer and out lesbian Linda Perry is none too pleased with the current state of the music industry, and she’s not shy about naming names of those culprits leading to the demise of the industry. In a recent video interview at Los Angeles’ Ford Amphitheater former front woman for 4 Non Blondes, who’s written hit songs for the likes of Christina Aguilera, P!nk and Gwen Stefani, called out Katy Perry as essentially a purveyor of “crap.”

In a recent video interview at Los Angeles’ Ford Amphitheater former front woman for 4 Non Blondes, who’s written hit songs for the likes of Christina Aguilera, P!nk and Gwen Stefani, called out Katy Perry as essentially a purveyor of “crap.”

“Who wants a fucking Katy Perry record?” Linda asks in the interview, after offering kudos to Adele –although she admits she’s not a big fan of British chanteuse—for delivering a “solid record.”

“You’re going to get the two songs that are probably the hits that are good but the rest of the album is going to be crap,” Linda says about Katy’s music. “It’s going to sound like shit, and who cares about buying that record?”

After her initial no-holds-barred micro rant Linda tones it down a tad. “I’m not saying that Katy is bad. She’s great for what she does…” Linda says. “She’s not looking to change the world musically.”

While I don’t disagree with Linda on the state of the music industry I must admit an unfettered affinity for “Firework” that causes me to burst into it for no good reason in my car.

Here’s Linda in her own words.
