There’s a new promo out for Law and Order: SVU featuring a bevy of strong women with husky voices. Talk about prompting us to want to tune in!
Big changes are afoot on NBC’s wildly popular procedural since Christopher Meloni, who played the stalwart Det. Eliot Stabler for 12 seasons, announced he was moving on to other projects. While the news of Meloni’s departure came as a blow for SVU fans hooked on the chemistry between him and his on-screen partner Mariska Hargitay, judging from the promo, SVU season 13 could be a game-changer.
Besides bringing in new talent including Chase’s Kelli Giddish, who also played Kalinda’s most recent fling on The Good Wife, the season will feature dueling DA’s played by SVU faves Diane Neal and Stephanie March. Giddish, Neal and Hargitay form a trio of sexy women with deep voices, a fact that did get past Neal.
“We have another girl around with a deep voice, always into that,” Neal says of Giddish, adding that Giddish can also “kick some ass and take some names.”
Hargitay, who plays the iconic detective Olivia Benson, says in the promo that she’s thrilled to see some familiar faces back for the new season. “Seeing Stephanie March made me very, very happy, and we have Diane Neal back…” Hargitay says.
We are very, very happy too! The only way we might be happier is if SVU and the Maria Bello starrer, Prime Suspect, do a crossover episode.
Here’s the promo.
