Ilene Chaiken Regrets Dana’s Death - The L Word Series Reunion Secrets

If Dana had survived, who knows where the ladies of The L Word, particularly Alice, may have ended up…

The number one most wanted gift by lesbians this year, The L Word: The Complete Series DVD set, came out yesterday, November 22.

If you are waiting to see if the new box set shows up under your Christmas tree or Hanukkah bush, enjoy a little pre-holiday treat with this delectable clip from the reunion special included on the new special features.

Series creator Ilene Chaiken shared her greatest regret in the course of the seminal Showtime series about a group of lesbian friends and lovers in Los Angeles. And it wasn’t the cliffhanger ending.

Chaiken, surrounded by stars Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig, Laurel Holloman, Leisha Hailey, Erin Daniels, and more, said that like so many of the show's vocal fans, she too regretted her choice that Dana Fairbanks (Daniels) would die in the third season.

AfterEllen.com posted this MovieWeb.com exclusive clip from the reunion special where Chaiken admits she offed Dana way too soon:

The one thing that I most regret on the show is Dana’s death. The reaction was so passionate and the grief was so deeply felt – and to have be responsible for causing that kind of grief just is hard to live with. … If I could go back and do it over again that might be the one thing I do differently.

If Dana had survived, who knows where the ladies of The L Word, particularly Alice, may have ended up… Do you think it would have made a major difference?

If you can’t wait for the holidays, order yourself The L Word: The Complete Series DVD set now. As long as you’ve been good this year. Or naughty in the nice way.
