Ellen DeGeneres Steals Oscars' Night with JCPenney Commercials-Video Round-Up

One of the highlights of Hollywood’s biggest night, The Oscars, was the series of JCPenney commercials featuring new spokeswoman Ellen shopping during various phases of history including the Old West, Ancient Rome and Victorian England. Here’s a brief history of the JCPenney / Ellen hubbub - The actress and comedian announced early this month that she’d partnered with the retail giant to be its new spokesperson, a move that immediately spurred the antigay group One Million Moms into threatening to boycott JCPenney if Ellen weren’t fired.

One of the highlights of Hollywood’s biggest night, The Oscars, was the series of JCPenney commercials featuring new spokeswoman Ellen shopping during various phases of history including the Old West, Ancient Rome and Victorian England.

Regarding Ellen's JCPenney partnership, the actress and comedian announced early this month that she’d joined with the retail giant to be its new spokesperson, a move that immediately spurred the antigay group One Million Moms into threatening to boycott JCPenney if Ellen weren’t fired.

"By jumping on the pro-gay bandwagon, JCPenney is attempting to gain a new target market and in the process will lose customers with traditional values that have been faithful to them over all these years,” One Million Moms’ blog read.

Responding to One Million Moms, GLAAD launched the Stand Up For Ellen Campaign and JCPenney stood by its spokeswoman, resulting for many in the most interesting part of Oscar night – the Ellen commercials!

Without further ado here is Ellen in a brief history of retail throughout the ages:
