'Grey's Anatomy' Cast to Perform Musical Event Songs Live at UCLA

Grey’s Anatomy fans may recall this little episode last season entitled “The Song Beneath the Song,” or colloquially referred to by creator Shonda Rhimes and company as “The Musical Event.” The episode focused on the staff at Seattle Grace saving Callie (Sara Ramirez) and her baby following a devastating car crash in a heartrending hour that featured cast members singing musical numbers to help tell move the narrative along. And it was only fitting that Tony winner Ramirez was at the center of the story.

The episode made for a heartrending hour that featured cast members singing musical numbers to help tell move the narrative along. And it was only fitting that Tony winner Ramirez was at the center of the story.

Now, the cast of Grey’s is slated to perform Grey’s Anatomy: The Songs Beneath the Show live at UCLA’s Royce Hall on March 18, in a fundraiser for the Actors Fund.

On hand for the event will be the Ramirez and Jessica Capshaw, the actresses who play Callie and Arizona, arguably the most adorable lesbian doc couple to ever grace the small screen. For the musical event episode Ramirez killed on a cover of ‘The Story’ while she and Capshaw melted hearts with their beautiful version of K.T. Tunstall’s “Universe and U.”

Also on hand to reprise their numbers from the musical episode will be Justin Chambers, Eric Dane, Sarah Drew, Kevin McKidd, Sandra Oh, Jim Pickens, Jr., Kim Raver and Chandra Wilson.

Tickets range in price from $55 to $250 for VIP tickets. For information check out the event’s page.

Meanwhile, here’s a little reminder of Ramirez and her vocal chops on "The Story."
