Nelly Furtado's New Video for 'Big Hoops (Bigger the Better)' Is Attack of the 50-Foot-Woman Redux

Popstar Nelly Furtado, who came out as bisexual in 2006, just released her video for the lead single off her upcoming fifth album, The Spirit Indestructible. Well, the clip is interesting--the multi-culti singer struts around Downtown Los Angeles on stilts, wears numerous hot outfits (including one that has her looking like JD Samson sans mustache), and finally grows to 100 feet and threatens to knock over skyscrapers.

Weird is good in our book, though it would be nice if we had any clue what the song was about (we initially thought it was about big earrings) or if it didn't sound like she was holding her nose though the entire tune. Really, why does she sound so nasal?

Like all the songs on The Spirit Indestructible, Furtado wrote “Big Hoops” herself—though this one had help with red-hot producer Rodney Jerkins. “Big Hoops,” though, may be a miss-fire. Hopefully, the next single will be more like "Say It Right," "Promiscuous," or "Turn Off the Light": tunes that were alternately sexy, sassy, and introspective.
