Queen Latifah Tells Barbara Walters She's 'Serious' About Adopting a Child

Queen Latifah could join the likes of celebrities who’ve adopted babies including Sandra Bullock, Charlize Theron, Jillian Michaels and Katherine Heigl since she revealed to Barbara Walters on Wednesday’s The View that she is in the “working on” adopting a child.

Queen Latifah could join the likes of celebrities who’ve adopted babies including Sandra Bullock, Charlize Theron, Jillian Michaels and Katherine Heigl since she revealed to Barbara Walters on Wednesday’s The View that she is in the “working on” adopting a child, according to Entertainment Tonight.

When the doyenne of The View Walters asked the star of the Steel Magnolias remake Latifah if she had ever considered adoption Latifah said, “I’m actually kind of working on that.”

Latifah, 42, who recently voiced Ice Age: Continental Drift added, “I just always wanted to bring a child home." She also told Walters that it would not really matter where the child was from.

Walters continued to quiz Latifah about whether she was serious about adopting a baby, which prompted Latifah to say, “I'm totally serious, so if you got a kid that you don't… Just give me a year -- let me set up camp and send me the kid. But no, no totally."

While Latifah has not been officially, openly linked to a significant other for years, she has continually dodged lesbian rumors.  Most recently the blogosphere went wild when it was asserted that Latifah came out during a performance at Long Beach Pride in June, which she subsequently denied.
