The first photos of out director Kim Peirce’s reboot of Brian De’Palma’s 1976 classic Carrie are out, and they’re bloody good!

15-year-old Kick-Ass and Let Me In star Chloe Grace Moretz takes on the titular role that Sissy Spacek made famous in the original film (based on the Stephen King novel of the same name) about an out cast girl with telekinetic powers and a hyper-religious mom who wreaks havoc at prom. It’s the ultimate anti-bullying story really.

If it weren’t enough that Peirce, who made Boys Don’t Cry, about murdered trans teen Brandon Teena, were at the helm on Carrie, LGBT advocate and an actress who’s often played queer in movies like The Kids Are All Right, Chloe, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee andThe Hours, takes on the role of Carrie’s horrifying mother Margaret White, a role that Piper Laurie made famous in the original.

Here’s the first look at Carrie, which hits theaters on March 13, 2013.
