Watch: Ellen DeGeneres on the Election, Marriage Equality and Women Ruling the World

So there was this little election the other night in which we saw pro-LGBT and women’s rights President Barack Obama re-elected, Rep. Tammy Baldwin elected the first-ever gay Senator (woo woo), gay marriage equality passed in three states and more women than ever elected to the Senate, even if it is only a quarter of the number of men. Ellen DeGeneres took the opportunity to address Tuesday’s history-making election on her show.

Regarding the strides for marriage equality Ellen said, “ That’s great news for the people in those states, and better news for people that work at Crate and Barrel.”

But she spent the bulk of her monologue riffing on how, with more women running the country, we could fix the budget deficit with coupons and foreign policy with “the silent treatment.”

Even if Ellen’s bit was laced with gender stereotypes Mitt Romney and co. might embrace she turned it around to say imply that by 2016 there’ll be a woman running for and winning the Presidency.
