Watch: Ellen DeGeneres Approves of SNL's Kate McKinnon's Ellen Impression

SNL player Kate McKinnon is the next big thing to happen for women on Saturday Night Live since Kristen Wiig's departure and she’s also the long-running show’s first-ever out gay lady! One other gay lady who’s taken note of Kate’s prowess with an impression is Ellen DeGeneres, whom Kate has spoofed twice on SNL since her first appearance last April.

This weekend Kate donned a suit and a short-haired Ellen style bob to portray talk show diva. Ellen gave Kate’s impersonation of her a shout-out in her monologue for The Ellen DeGeneres show, showing clips of her doppelganger and adding that she plans to invite Kate to Los Angeles.  “I want her to go to Thanksgiving for me,” Ellen says.

Watch Ellen deconstruct Kate's impression of Ellen - it's all so meta! And, Ellen's YouTube channel is being kind of unfriendly, so if you can't see the SNL spoof below click here.
