Actress, LGBT ally and Tony winner with the big pipes Sara Ramirez chatted about the path of her Grey’s Anatomy character, bisexual ortho doc Callie, at the GLAAD Awards in Los Angeles this past weekend, saying that she’s “proud of what we’ve done.”

“I chose this path for Callie, and Shonda collaborated with me on it, and the writers, thank God, have gone with me on it…” Sara said of Callie’s coming out, falling for and marrying the love of her life Arizona (Jessica Capshaw).

“I continue to be an advocate for fair, accurate, inclusive portrayals of these kinds of characters,” Sara added.

On a side note, while we just love Sara, we’re also always hoping she’ll belt out a showtune when she’s finished talking about our rights.
